Viktor Lakhin announces departure from UC
Portal season is officially here and Cincinnati forward/center Viktor Lakhin announced on instagram Monday night that he would not return to Cincinnati for the 2024/25 season.
Lakhin averaged 12.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg through the first 19 games of the season and led the Bearcats in both statistics prior to missing a home against UCF, due to illness.
Lakhin went scoreless in 18 minutes in the next game against West Virginia and averaged just 2.0 points per game over the final 11 regular season games as he slowly faded out of the starting lineup and rotation.
It looked like Lakhin was rounding back in to form following an 11 point, 9 rebound performance against Houston on February 27th, but that would be the last major impact he would have.
The 6-foor-11 Anapa, Russia native played a combined seven minutes over six post season games between the Big 12 Tournament and NIT, with four games of not logging a single minute.
While Lakhin has one year of eligibility remaining, his message did not specify whether he would be returning to Europe to pursue a professional career or entering the transfer portal and looking for a new destination to finish his collegiate career.
