Video: Scott Satterfield, Joe Royer, Joey Beljan, Jack Dingle Post Fall Camp #5

It was hot in the hills of Indiana as Cincinnati football took to the Camp Higher Ground field for their fifth practice of Fall Camp, in preparation for the 2024 season.

Following Monday's practice, Head Coach Scott Satterfield, tight ends Joe Royer and Joey Beljan, as well as linebacker Jack Dingle met with the media to discuss fall camp.

Notes:

- Freshman Quarterback Samaj Jones looks to have transformed his body since the spring. Strength and Conditioning coach Niko Palazetti told RiverfrontU that the "Porterhouse" is now down to 215-220 and has put in an incredible amount of work this off-season to become more lean, while also maintaining the natural strength that he already possessed.

- Wide Receiver Aaron Turner had a great day, making plays all over the field, including in the redzone. Brady Lichtenberg found him multiple times in the corner of the end zone for scores, including one where he secured the ball and kept both feet in before falling out of bounds.

- Linebacker Jared Bartlett spent some time as a rush edge and was able to get pressure on the QB multiple times with his strength and speed. With Micah Coleman out for the season, Bartlett will be counted on to provide pressure from the outside.

- Speaking of the outside, linebacker Jack Dingle is transitioning more outside in Tyson Veidt's new scheme. Dingle manned the middle of the defense last season.

- Brendan Sorsby found Xzavier Henderson multiple times for long gains down the sideline. Sorsby and the other qb's missed some throws over the middle during drills, but all three showed the ability to consistently find their man down the sideline. Play of the day goes to Sorsby, who hit freshman walk-on Michael Mussari  in stride down the sideline for a beautiful over the shoulder catch. Mussari has had a really good off season and consistently made plays when given the opportunity.

- Defense looked solid in open field situations. Ormani Arnold, Logan Wilson, Quavo Saboor, Zay "Gravy" Johnson, and Derrick Canteen were all guys who showed up in today's notes for making plays. Linebacker Jonathon Thompson also had an interception on a throw across the middle from Samaj Jones in 7-on-7.

- Offense looked good in the redzone, scoring on three straight plays late in practice. Brady Lichtennberg and Samaj Jones both had keepers for touchdowns. Jones capped off the session with a touchdown throw in the back of the end zone to tight end Joey Beljan.

- Chicago Bears had a scout in practice taking in the action along with a CFL representative.
