Ohio State transfer running back Evan Pryor commits to Cincinnati

After losing running backs Myles Montgomery, Ethan Wright, and Stephen Byrd to the transfer portal, the Cincinnati running back room was left pretty thin.

1,000 yard rusher Corey Kiner announced his return next year, but other than him, the running back room next season was going to consist of redshirt freshman Manny Covey and incoming freshman Jakorion Caffey

On Wednesday morning, the Cincinnati staff addressed a depth and experience need with the addition of Ohio State transfer running back Evan Pryor.

A former 4-star and top 100 prospect in the 2021 class, Pryor initially chose the Buckeyes over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, and Georgia, among others.

In his three years in Columbus, Pryor carried the ball 40 times for 147 yards and one touchdown. He also caught three passes for 10 yards.

Pryor's strength is his speed and agility. At almost 200 pounds, he has great burst when changing directions and has the ability to be a play maker out of the backfield with his pass catching ability.

The North Carolina native was on campus last week for a visit and will come to Cincinnati with three years of eligibility remaining after missing the 2022 season with an injury.
