New Cincinnati indoor practice facility renderings released
Per release:
Cincinnati Athletics announced on Thursday the launch of a dedicated website for its state-of-the-art, $134-million Indoor Practice Facility and Performance Center project.
The website features brand new renderings, floor plans, timelines and other details on the facilities.
Spearheaded by Larry and Rhonda Sheakley's transformational giving and leadership, the new state-of-the art facilities will elevate the Cincinnati student-athlete experience, giving Bearcats an unrivaled advantage on the playing field and on the recruiting trail.
"When we talk about competing for championships in the Big 12, it's facilities like our indoor practice facility and performance center that will get us there," Director of Athletics John Cunningham said. "Having a permanent home for our football team is key to recruiting and competing in the top level of the conference and the country. What's also great about the facilities is they will provide a home for many other teams for practices, dining, workouts and medical services. These two buildings are also adjacent to our current Lindner Athletic Center, which will continue to keep all of our Bearcats sports programs together in Varsity Village. That closeness and ability to share ideas amongst teams and staff and develop relationships with all student-athletes is one of the biggest strengths of this athletic department."
Cincinnati held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 23. Gensler and MSA Sport are serving as the architects and designers for the project, while Messer Construction is the construction manager.
"The indoor practice facility and performance center is essential for the growth of our football program," Head Football Coach Scott Satterfield said. "It's truly going to be one of the best facilities in the country, giving us an edge over many of our competitors. From nutrition, sports performance and medical services to a brand-new locker room and indoor field that will enable us to practice and work out year-round without interruption, our student-athletes will have everything they need all in one place. I get excited driving past the construction each day seeing the foundation for the future being built."
