Eastern Michigan DE Micah Coleman Commits to Cincinnati

The 2023 season saw the Bearcats defense tie for second to last in the Big 12 with 18 sacks. The defensive front did a good job getting pressure on the quarterback, but lacked a long, athletic speed guy off the edge.

On Friday night, Coach Bryan Brown and his defensive staff addressed the lack of a pass rush with the addition of 6-foot-5 230 pound Eastern Michigan defensive end,  Micah Coleman.

Coleman finished the season with 39 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and 8 QB hurries. His best game of the season came against Minnesota when he finished with 6 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and a sack.

When watching Coleman's film, it is evident that he is a big, athletic guy that can make plays sideline to sideline. He shows good awareness off the ball and has the ability to use his speed and athleticism to make plays in the backfield as well as on plays ran away from him. He should add valuable depth to a room that is trying to replace Malik Vann and Jowon Briggs.as well as transfers Justin Wodtly and CJ Doggette.

A Reynoldsburg, OH native, Coleman was ranked as a three-star recruit in the class of 2020 and will arrive in Cincinnati with two years of eligibility.
