Corey Evans named Men's Basketball General Manager
Cincinnati Athletics announced the hiring of Oklahoma City Thunder's Corey Evans on Monday afternoon.
Evans comes to Cincinnati as the first ever GM in program history after spending the past four years in the NBA as an amateur evaluation scout.
"I've known Corey Evans for over 13 years," Miller said during UC's official press release of the hire. "He is a rising star with a relentless work ethic. He's unique in his base of knowledge as well as his diversity of relationships across all levels of basketball.
"As our college game continues to transition to a true professional model, I think there is value in adding another staff member with NBA experience as well as a non-coaching background. He will be a vital asset to myself, our staff and our players."
Evans' roles with the Thunder included player evaluations and intelligence work on all pre-draft prospects worldwide. He also helped in the hiring processes of entry-level coaches and interns.
Prior to entering the NBA ranks, Evans built a national reputation as a high school evaluator with Rivals.com from 2017-21. He also began the Roundball Rundown Report in September 2012, serving as its Scouting Service Director through 2021. He produced reports on high school prospects on a subscription basis that eventually reached more than 130 Division I programs nationwide.
With UC potentially looking to re-tool and re-stock their roster this offseason, Evans' experience should be valuable during the roster construction process.
