Cincinnati Football Adds two transfers

The Bearcats added two important pieces to the 2024 roster on Saturday with the additions of defensive back Kye Stokes and defensive end George Gumbs Jr.

Stokes comes to Cincinnati after spending one season at Ohio State.

At 6'1 195, Stokes has the size to be a long, rangy athlete in the back end of Bryan Brown's defense. The former 4* safety out of Florida didn't play much during his time at Ohio State but was rated as the 16th best athlete in the country in the class of 2022.

Stokes originally chose Ohio State over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and LSU, among others.

The other addition on the day was 6'4" 243 pound Northern Illinois defensive end transfer George Gumbs Jr.

Gumbs made the transition from tight end to defensive end this past season and finished with 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.

For a defense that badly needed more athleticism and length off the edge, this addition addresses both needs.
