Cincinnati Football Adds Two Key Additions through Transfer Portal
The transfer portal opened Monday and the Cincinnati football staff has begun the process of rebuilding the roster after seeing wide receivers Sterling Berkhalter and Tyrin Smith, offensive lineman Jonathon Harder, defensive lineman Garrison Butler, and defensive backs Kalen Carroll, DJ Taylor, and Jordan Young announce their intentions to pursue an opportunity with a different program next season.
On Wednesday, Cincinnati received the commitment of 6'4" 325-pound Ball State offensive lineman Taran Tyo.

A Versailles, OH native, Tyo was selected to the All-MAC Third Team after this past season, excelling at both guard and tackle with Ball State. Tyo received a 78.1 PFF grade during the 2024 season, showing consistency in both run-block and pass-block.
Tyo is expected to come in and compete for a starting guard position from day one with Luke Kandra and Dartanyan Tinsley both graduating.
Ohio State also showed interest in adding Tyo, who has two years of eligibility remaining.
A day after Tyo's commitment, Cincinnati received the commitment of Coastal Carolina junior cornerback Matthew McDoom.

At 5'11 170-pounds, McDoom brings a wealth of experience, having started 25 games for Coastal, while also earning All-Sun Belt First Team honors this past season after recording 36 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 interceptions, and 10 pass-break ups.
The Florida native allowed just one touchdown in 293 coverage snaps in 2024.
McDoom was also a second-team All-Sun Belt selection as a return specialist, which could provide even more value for a team that is looking to shore up Special Teams after having zero returns of twenty or more yards during the 2024 season.
Coombs, Fuqua Will Not Return
Earlier this week, it was announced that special teams and cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs would not return to Cincinnati after being relieved of his duties.
On Friday, Scott Satterfield moved on from outside linebackers coach Nate Fuqua as well.
Fuqua spent the past two seasons at Cincinnati after being apart of staffs at both Georgia State and Wofford.
