Canteen, Corleone, Gerhardt, Kandra Named Captains
With kickoff just 9 days away, Scott Satterfield named his four captains for the 2024 season on Wednesday afternoon.
Defensive back Derrick Canteen, All American defensive tackle Dontay Corleone, center Gavin Gerhardt, and All American offensive guard Luke Kandra have been named the four captains for the season.

It is especially impressive for a guy like Derrick Canteen to be named a captain as the redshirt senior is one of 47 newcomers to this seasons' roster. Canteen spent last season at Virginia Tech, after starting his career at Georgia Southern.
Canteen has a great spring and summer and carried that in to Fall Camp at Camp Higher Ground.
Corleone is still recovering from blood clots found in his lungs, but the Cincinnati staff is hopeful that he will be available for the upcoming season as he continues to progress and work out with the team doing non-contact activities.
Both Kandra and Corleone were recently named the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, as well. Other Bearcats selected to the list were wide receiver Xzavier Henderson, running back Corey Kiner, defensive back Josh Minkins, and offensive lineman John Williams.
Cincinnati kicks off their season Saturday August 31st at 2:30 pm inside Nippert Stadium against Towson.
