4* Newton (GA) RB Zion Johnson Commits to Cincinnati
Running backs coach De'Rail Sims and the Cincinnati staff picked up another big addition to the 2025 class on Thursday afternoon with the commitment of four-star Newton (GA) running back, Zion Johnson.
With an .8920 composite rating, Johnson is rated as the 357th best prospect nationally and the 31st best running back. During his junior season, Johnson finished with 1,647 yards and 20 touchdowns on 184 touches. During his sophomore season, Johnson finished with 1,066 yards and six touchdowns on 141 carries.
At 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, Johnson is an explosive guy that has the ability to take a carry the distance from anywhere on the field. His film shows a power back that also possesses the needed speed to break away from defenders. Johnson runs track and posted times of 10.88, 11.00 and 11.06 in the 100-meter dash as a sophomore. Member of 4x100 and 4x200 teams that qualified for state meet.
The speedy Georgia back chose Cincinnati over other offers that included Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
Johnson becomes the fourth commit of Cincinnati's 2025 class, joining Toronto (OH) quarterback Zeb Kinsey, Dayton Wayne (OH) wide receiver Kamaurri Smith, and Rab Gap (GA) cornerback Patrick Williams.
