2026 McKinney (TX) PG Jaidyn Gunter Discusses UC Commitment
2026 McKinney (TX) point guard Jaidyn Gunter became Katrina Merriweather's first commitment of the 2026 cycle when she announced her commitment to the Bearcats on February 7th.
Rated the 11th best player in Texas, as well as the fourth best point guard in the state, Gunter saw her stock rise after having a stellar spring and summer playing for Texas U and It's Fox Nation on the Under Armor AAU Girls Circuit.
Prior to committing to Cincinnati, Gunter received interest from Florida, Georgia Tech, Houston, North Carolina, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt, among others.
At the end of the day, Gunter made her decision based on the love she received and comfortability she had with Cincinnati's staff following a January 18th visit to Clifton for the Bearcats' win over Colorado.
"I really saw that in Cincinnati, that their coaches were a family, their players were a family, everybody was just family," Gunter explained. "If I had to explain Sisterhood, it would definitely be the University of Cincinnati Women's Basketball team."
Gunter is most known for her aggressive style of play at both ends of the court.
Offensively, she is able to score from all three levels and really excels at getting in transition and either getting downhill to score, or setting her teammates up for easy baskets. Gunter is also a prolific scorer from outside and recently scored her 1,000th point as a junior at McKinney.
Defensively, she takes pride in her assignment and consistently shows effort and intensity at that end of the floor.
Jaidyn joined the At Large Bid Bearcats Pod to discuss her commitment, what stood out to her about the Bearcats, as well as give some insight on what Katrina Merriweather and her staff are getting when she steps on campus.
